Always a Christmas treat from my Mom for the grandchildren. Excellent place, really beautiful at Christmas. Lovely happy staff, educational and fun.
What a magical day. A short trip on a steam train, helping Santa's elves in their workshop, a gift from Santa rounded off with a drink & mince pies. Book early, this is very popular.
Very interesting museum and they have many special events throughout the year Santa special is well worth a visit I have taken my grandchildren for 14 years and even the older ones still like the visit. Have to book on line and apply early as the tickets soon go.
We only went to the cafe but the center looked so interesting we intend to return. The cafe is great. Coffee and cake were very nice and reasonable price.But the big surprise was the Sunday lunches that were served while we were there, they looked so good. Be warned through were were there at just after midday and by 12.30 it was almost full. The bonus was the happy and friendly staff
The Rural life centre is somewhere for all the family to enjoy not only is it very educational and a great way of looking back into the past, there are plenty of demonstrations on certain days where everyone can have a go at some of the old crafts are grandparents and great-grandparents would have seen as normal life. The layout is very easy to navigate with pushchairs or wheelchairs, there is a cafeteria where food and drink is served if you find this a little bit pricey you can always bring a picnic, they also host other events such as car shows or even concerts which are well worth a visit, we found it was worth getting a family pass for the year as we visit regularly we would definitely recommend the Rural life centre.
